Becoming a TINFA partner

Criteria to become a TINFA partner:
  • School whose students belong to the poor level of the population. TINFA does not work with the very poor. We define very poor the population that occasionally does not have sufficient food, clothing or basic health care.
  • The students have proficiency in English, Spanish or French.
  • School has access to the internet. Ideally the school has the potential to access a fast area network. We would consider phone internet connections, as long as a dedicated line would be available.
  • School is overlooked by a non-profit organization with a local presence.
  • School that is geographically close to current TINFA partnership schools (less than 30min commute).

What TINFA brings

  • A check to buy computers, possibly printers, webcams and digital cameras
  • Consulting on Training of the teachers
  • Consulting on the incorporation of technology into the curriculum
  • Partnership with other school, in a different geographic region
  • Support in running projects with partner school

What the partner brings

  • The physical space for the equipment. Room(s), tables, chairs.
  • Appropriate security measures and devises for the safety and well maintenance of the equipment. (proper locking, usage policy and enforcement, necessary equipment like a surge surpressor , covers in dusty environment. )
  • A budget allocation of 5% of the overall cost for 5 years , for computer maintenance and support.
  • A team of a minimum of 3 people fully committed to the partnership, made of the head of the organization, the project lead (could be a teacher), and at least one other teacher.
    • Commitment for the head of organization means :
      • Provide general information, at the beginning of the project and on demand on school background, demography, education, use of technology policies, programs
      • Provide statistical/Evaluation data and human stories on the use of technology in the school, on a regular basis (every 3 months for the first year, every 6 months the second year, and at least every year thereafter)
      • Availability for testimonies for punctual fundraising efforts
      • Provides necessary support for the teachers to incorporate technology into their curriculum
      • Prompt escalation path, as necessary.
    • Commitment for the project lead means:
      • Interest in learning about technology
      • Be the lead person in the school for the incorporation of technology into the current curriculum
      • Support other teachers in incorporating technology in their curriculum.
      • Be the direct contact for communication with TINFA. Discuss projects that we can do together.
      • Ability to dedicate at least 10h a month on the subject.
      • Available for testimonies for punctual fundraising efforts
    • Commitment of other teacher means:
      • Interest in learning about technology
      • Willingness to incorporate technology in curriculum and work with Project lead to do so.
      • Ability to dedicate at least 5h a month on the subject.
